What's In Your Hand?
Perhaps you’re wondering if you’ve blown your shot at living out your calling.
To be honest - I certainly have.
Maybe you think you’ve waited too long.
You’ve gone too far down the wrong road.
You’ve not become the person you thought you’d be.
Or simply, life hasn’t worked out as you expected…
Moses thought so too.
He lived in Pharaoh’s house.
Favored by his daughter.
And was raised to lead.
But life changed when Moses let anger grow in his heart when he witnessed one of his own people being beaten by a guard, and killed him.
You would think, and maybe Moses did too, that this would strengthen the relationship with his people, but instead they called him out.
So, Moses, did like so many of us, he hid.
For forty years... he hid.
When God calls him back into the game, Moses feigns skill-less, saying:
-- Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh
-- But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice
-- I am not eloquent... I am slow of speech
-- Send I pray... whomever else
Send, “whomever else”???
But God asks Moses, “What is in your hand?”
What do you think he has in his hands?
He’s played the role of a shepherd for 40 years now…
A shepherd’s staff of course.
And through it, God used a man, who thought he had blown it, to save a nation.
So what’s in your hand?
A pen, a camera, a mop, a wrench, a computer, a game controller, a baby bottle... What?
If God can use a staff, He can surely use whatever is in yours.
The simple question is… will you let him?
Father, there is so much work to be done. And we are sitting on the sidelines thinking we have somehow failed you - that we are disqualified. I pray that you would speak to us today - call us, Lord - that you would burden our hearts once more for the work that you planned in advance for us to do, and that we would notice what is in our hands - our giftings, our leanings, our skills, and our bents - and offer them to You to use to further your kingdom here on the earth. In Jesus name… —Amen.
Have a great week in the Lord. —JayS
